Located just a 3-hour drive from Johannesburg, Marakele National Park offers stunning scenery that will leave you in awe.   1. Prior to its setting as a National Park, it was the home of naturalist Eugene Marais.

  2. Marakele National Park was previously founded as Kransberg National Park.

  3. Marakele is home to the big five. Buffalo did not previously exist in the park.

  4. The park hosts the largest colony of Cape griffon vultures.

  5. There is no convenience store in or near the park, so you'll have to either prepare in advance or drive to Thabazimbi to purchase supplies.
